Example 3 – Bespoke arrangement

To help you understand how your funeral choices impact pricing, we've compiled the following example. Please note, this example is indicative only and does not represent a 'package' offered by Walter Carter Funerals.

Religious service and cremation, with guests attending only the service

After a long illness, Mary, aged 71 years old, died peacefully at home surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.

Mary and her husband, Stan, had spoken about her funeral arrangements and together they decided that Walter Carter Funerals would be their funeral provider of choice. Mary passed away late in the evening on a Saturday and, after the doctor attended to officially declare her death, Stan called Walter Carter Funerals, who were able to take Mary into their care in the early hours of the next morning.

Mary was Anglican and an active member of her local church community, so the funeral service will be conducted by the local minister at the church she and Stan attended each week. Mary also wanted to be cremated. While family and friends will attend the service, Stan has asked Walter Carter Funerals to organise for the cremation to proceed without guests in attendance.

There will also be a viewing at the church prior to the service.

While the family are expecting approximately 80 people to attend the service, they’ve asked for only 50 copies of the order of service to be printed (on the basis that people can share them during the service).

Stan is an avid gardener and will provide all the flowers for the service. One of Mary and Stan’s daughters will put together the tribute slideshow and music will be organised by Walter Carter Funerals.

An after-service gathering will be held at the family home, with food and refreshments catered by the local cafe.
